They emphasise the importance of bringing a Current Medication Overview, critical for checking drug interactions. If a patient doesn’t have this overview, the pharmacy staff will contact the patient’s regular pharmacy or GP to ensure safety.

 

In the evenings and on weekends, OLVG Pharmacy operates as a service pharmacy open for urgent needs only. During these times, the service rate for prescription medicines is 17.21 euros per prescription line, not including the cost and a 9% VAT. The pharmacy’s approach to emergency care is thorough but does incur additional costs: 22.68 euros per prescription plus the cost of the medicine and VAT. These rates reflect the higher personnel costs associated with after-hours service.

 

OLVG Pharmacy also offers a home delivery service for those in the Amsterdam region who cannot pick up their medications. They encourage environmentally responsible disposal of expired or unused medications by accepting them back for proper destruction, helping prevent pollution and water contamination.
